Waking up in a void of memory, you have no idea who you are or why you are here. But on your computer screen, a boy named Iori Heartfield suddenly appears. Not only does he know you, but he also claims that all the answers lie in the horrific forest fire called the Mirage Forest Incident.

The fire claimed the lives of five young girls in a rental space and cafe called “Mirage”. But what you see on the surveillance video – one of the victims, Yoshinaga Luna, appears to be alive – is what makes it all so suspicious. Could this not be an accident, but a cleverly concealed plot?

Virtualization – Investigate from familiar applications

The space in Project COLD Case Mirage is not built with a 3D map, but with your own computer. You will open your browser, analyze chats, check virtual phones, look up surveillance photos, and query AI from digital copies of data. All the familiar things like web tabs, messaging apps, and data files will become powerful crime-solving tools – if you know how to connect them all together.

Lies cannot be hidden forever

You can communicate with the digital copies of the victims through the Wizard feature. Based on the information you collect, you will ask questions, test reactions, and compare them with previous statements to find inconsistencies. When pushed into a corner by undeniable evidence, each character will gradually reveal the true person hidden behind the kind appearance.

Not only that, you also have access to each girl’s personal phone. Photos, messages, notes, and call history – all reflect the relationships and psychological developments before the tragedy. This is the key to understanding their motives, personalities, and even the secrets they never dared to say out loud.
