METAL GEAR SOLID: Peace Walker – Master Collection Version brings one of the most important chapters in the Metal Gear timeline to Nintendo Switch. Set ten years after METAL GEAR SOLID 3: Snake Eater, the story follows Naked Snake as he leads an independent military force and investigates a mysterious armed group operating in Costa Rica. The game combines stealth missions with combat, base management, equipment development, and multiplayer features. This Master Collection release uses the HD Collection version of Peace Walker while adding digital books and bonus content.

Follow Snake on a new mission in Costa Rica
The story takes place in 1974, a decade after Naked Snake prevented nuclear war during the events of Snake Eater. Although he received the legendary title of Big Boss, Snake disappeared after the ceremony and eventually established an independent military unit in Colombia. His new life changes when two visitors from Costa Rica request his assistance. Their country has no standing army, yet a mysterious armed force has begun operating within the region. Snake initially hesitates to intervene, but a recording brought by the visitors contains the voice of The Boss, the mentor he believed to be dead. That discovery gives him a deeply personal reason to investigate. The resulting mission places Snake within another Cold War conspiracy and becomes an essential part of his transformation from legendary soldier into the man eventually known throughout the world as Big Boss.
Complete missions through stealth and combat
Peace Walker retains the stealth-action philosophy that defines the Metal Gear series. Players enter enemy territory and attempt to complete objectives without unnecessary detection. Observing patrol routes, remaining hidden, and choosing the right moment to move can often prove more effective than attacking everyone directly. However, missions also provide weapons and equipment for situations where confrontation becomes unavoidable. This mixture allows players to adapt their tactics depending on the objective and enemy presence. Some missions emphasize infiltration, while larger encounters require considerably more firepower. Capturing enemy soldiers also serves a larger purpose because useful personnel can be recruited for Snake’s growing organization. This connection between battlefield decisions and long-term progression gives individual missions greater importance. Successfully completing an operation can provide new resources that improve the organization and prepare Snake for increasingly difficult assignments.
Build and expand Mother Base
Mother Base introduces a management system that distinguishes Peace Walker from more conventional stealth games. The offshore facility acts as headquarters for Snake’s independent military organization and gradually develops as players recruit additional personnel. Staff members can contribute to different departments, including teams responsible for researching weapons and useful equipment. Expanding the organization therefore provides practical advantages during later missions. Captured soldiers can become valuable recruits, giving players another reason to avoid simply eliminating every enemy encountered. Mother Base also houses living areas, development facilities, storage for captured large-scale weapons, and other important functions. This simulation element creates a progression loop between missions and headquarters management. Going into the field provides personnel and resources, while improvements at Mother Base create stronger equipment for future operations.
