Graveyard Keeper 2 is a darkly humorous management and action simulation game from Lazy Bear Games. The sequel expands the strange medieval world of the original with a larger town, deeper automation, and a new threat to the entire kingdom. This time, you become the Grand Inquisitor and must prepare for a zombie apocalypse. Managing graves is still important, but your responsibilities now extend far beyond the cemetery. You can rebuild the town, create production systems, train undead soldiers, construct defenses, and turn almost every crisis into another opportunity for profit.

Build and expand your medieval graveyard

Graveyard management remains at the heart of the experience. Players collect resources from the surrounding world and use them to develop an increasingly productive operation. Wood, plants, animals, and even human remains can become useful materials when handled correctly. Instead of treating the cemetery as a simple place for burials, Graveyard Keeper 2 turns it into part of a much larger production network. Players can construct machinery, process resources, improve facilities, and gradually increase the efficiency of their business. The familiar dark comedy of the series remains present throughout these systems. Morality often takes second place to productivity, especially when an unusual resource can generate additional profit. As the graveyard grows, better equipment and more advanced production options become available. The result is a management loop built around gathering, crafting, expansion, and optimization, where even the most questionable business decisions can become part of a successful medieval enterprise.

Automate production with undead workers

Running a graveyard, restoring a town, and defending a kingdom would be difficult for one person. Fortunately, the dead can still be productive. Graveyard Keeper 2 expands its zombie-based automation systems, allowing undead workers to handle repetitive tasks behind the scenes. Players can organize production chains and use zombies for much of the heavy lifting while concentrating on exploration, quests, construction, and other responsibilities. Automation becomes increasingly valuable as the scale of the operation grows. A well-designed system can continuously process resources and support other parts of the settlement without demanding constant attention. The challenge comes from deciding how to structure those systems efficiently and where limited resources should be invested. Improving one production chain can provide materials needed for another, gradually transforming a collection of basic workshops into a connected economic operation. This emphasis on automation gives players another reason to experiment with layouts, machinery, and undead labor instead of performing every task manually.

Rebuild the town for profit

The cemetery is no longer the only place that needs attention. The local town has fallen into poor condition, and its residents need help rebuilding their homes and restoring the community. Naturally, helping people does not mean forgetting about business. Players can complete quests throughout the town while looking for ways to turn local problems into profitable opportunities. Undead workers can take care of demanding tasks, allowing reconstruction projects to become another extension of the player’s growing operation. This creates a broader management experience than simply maintaining a graveyard. Progress in one area can support development elsewhere as new systems, resources, and opportunities become available. The townsfolk also provide quests that encourage players to interact with the wider community rather than remaining permanently inside their own property. By combining reconstruction with automation, Graveyard Keeper 2 lets players transform a struggling medieval settlement into something more organized, productive, and financially useful.

Lead an undead army into battle

A zombie apocalypse threatens the kingdom, forcing the new Grand Inquisitor to become a military leader as well as a manager. Players can raise an undead army and prepare their troops for combat against the approaching threat. Building towers and fortifications strengthens defenses, while crafted weapons and armor improve the fighting ability of the army. Troops can also be trained before being sent into battle. These systems bring more direct action into the Graveyard Keeper formula and connect crafting with the larger struggle to save the realm. Resources gathered and processed through the player’s economic network can therefore contribute directly to military preparation. The undead may not always be the smartest soldiers, but careful organization can turn them into an effective force. This combination of management and combat expands the sequel beyond the routine of maintaining a medieval business. Players are now responsible for building the systems that keep the town functioning while also creating an army capable of surviving an apocalypse.
