DRAGON BALL FighterZ brings the fast-paced battles of the Dragon Ball universe to Nintendo Switch in a 2.5D fighting game developed by Arc System Works and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game combines anime-inspired visuals with a combat system that is accessible to new players while offering enough depth for competitive play. On Nintendo Switch, players can experience its battles in TV, tabletop, or handheld mode and choose from single-player, local multiplayer, and online game modes.

Fast-Paced 3v3 Dragon Ball Battles
The core of DRAGON BALL FighterZ is its 3v3 Tag/Support battle system. Players create a team of three fighters and can switch characters during combat or call teammates in for assists. Learning when to tag characters, extend combos, defend against pressure, and use special attacks adds tactical depth beyond basic one-on-one fighting. The roster includes characters from across the Dragon Ball series, allowing players to build teams around their favorite fighters or experiment with different combinations and fighting styles.
Anime-Inspired Visuals and Spectacular Combat
Arc System Works designed DRAGON BALL FighterZ to closely recreate the visual style and explosive action associated with the Dragon Ball anime. Battles feature aerial combos, energy attacks, dramatic special moves, destructible environments, and cinematic sequences inspired by memorable moments from the series. The use of Unreal Engine helps combine 3D character models with a presentation that often resembles traditional 2D animation, giving the game a distinctive visual identity during both regular attacks and large-scale finishing moves.
Story Mode Featuring Android 21
In addition to standard battles, DRAGON BALL FighterZ includes an original Story Mode centered around Android 21, a character created specifically for the game with involvement from Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. The story brings together familiar heroes and villains while introducing a new conflict involving mysterious clones. Players progress through battles, unlock characters, and explore interactions between members of the cast, providing a single-player experience separate from the game’s competitive modes.
Local and Online Multiplayer Modes
DRAGON BALL FighterZ offers several multiplayer options on Nintendo Switch. Players can compete through local battles, local wireless play, ranked online matches, casual matches, interactive online lobbies, and Party Match modes supporting multiple participants. The Switch edition also supports simplified controls when playing with a single Joy-Con, making it easier to set up local matches without requiring a full controller for every participant. These options make the game suitable for both quick multiplayer sessions and more competitive online play.
FighterZ Passes and Additional Characters
The playable roster has expanded through multiple FighterZ Passes and individual downloadable characters. Additional fighters include characters such as Bardock, Broly, Vegito (SSGSS), Android 17, Cooler, Kefla, Goku (Ultra Instinct), Master Roshi, Super Baby 2, Gogeta (SS4), and others. These additions introduce different move sets, assists, and team combinations, giving players more options when creating a three-character lineup and keeping the battle system varied across different matchups.
DRAGON BALL FighterZ on Nintendo Switch
The Nintendo Switch version preserves the game’s core combat systems while adding the flexibility of portable play and multiple controller configurations. Players can practice combos in handheld mode, continue Story Mode away from a television, or set up multiplayer battles using the Switch’s local features. With its 3v3 combat, extensive Dragon Ball roster, original story, online competition, and continued updates, DRAGON BALL FighterZ remains one of the most substantial Dragon Ball fighting games available on Nintendo Switch.
