DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake brings two classic games back with a completely new look on Nintendo Switch. This is where the first heroes’ journey began, the birthplace of the beloved Japanese RPG series for nearly four decades. Now, that world is recreated in a brilliant HD-2D style, combining nostalgia and modernity. Players will rediscover the story of faith, magic and undying fighting spirit – the foundation of the legendary legacy of Dragon Quest.
Two heroic journeys follow each other
The collection includes Dragon Quest I and Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line. In the first part, you play as a descendant of the hero Roto, who sets out to defeat the Demon Lord and bring light back to the kingdom of Alefgard. In the second part, three descendants of Roto continue to fight to protect the world from a brutal force that has risen after many centuries. Two adventures follow each other, clearly showing the themes of heritage, courage and friendship – the values that have made the Dragon Quest series last.
HD-2D images blend classic and modern
The game applies the HD-2D style similar to Octopath Traveler, bringing a beauty that is both old and sophisticated. Familiar villages, castles and dungeons are recreated with classic pixels and soft lighting effects. Each scene evokes a warm feeling, reminiscent of the golden age of 8-bit games but still comes alive thanks to the power of Switch. Thanks to that, players can feel the familiar world in a fresh look, both nostalgic and full of life.
Classic combat, smooth experience
DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake retains the traditional turn-based combat style, but the operations are streamlined and the match speed is faster. Players can move easily, choose actions quickly and observe every skill in a clear frame. In part two, the team system helps you combine the skills of three characters to create flexible tactics. Every spell, attack or counterattack feels proactive and powerful. While keeping the classic spirit, the gameplay is still adjusted to suit the modern playing pace.
