Heretic + Hexen takes players back to the golden age of first-person shooters, but this time with an official re-release and many outstanding improvements. Developed by Raven Software on the modified DOOM platform, these two titles, released in 1994 and 1995 respectively, defined the dark magic shooter genre. The Nintendo Switch version not only fully recreates the spirit of the original, but also adds cross-platform play, an improved soundtrack, and mod support, providing an experience that is both nostalgic and modern. A total of 117 campaign maps and 120 deathmatch maps promise hours of fiery combat and an unforgettable, haunting atmosphere.

Heretic Legend – The War Against the Serpent Riders
In Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders, you play as a Sidhe elf who survived the genocide, standing up against the Serpent Riders – who turned the seven kings into instruments of destruction. The new Heretic: Faith Renewed continues the story, taking you to a strange city where the ghost of D’Sparil still haunts humanity. With a magic wand in hand, you rush into battle to extinguish the resurgent evil. Fast-paced gameplay, a diverse magical weapon system, and an open combat space make each battle dramatic, satisfying both veteran fans and new players.
Hexen World – Step through the gate of chaos
Hexen: Beyond Heretic expands the universe as you play as a Warrior, Mage, or Cleric, facing Korax – the second Serpent Rider. The elemental dungeon system, non-linear exploration mechanics, and a mix of combat and puzzles make Hexen a monument. The expansion Hexen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel takes you into the Realm of Death, where the challenges are even more severe. The new Hexen: The Great Mark reveals an unseen force that manipulates both Korax and you, setting the stage for an endless cycle of destiny that is both mysterious and captivating.
A next-gen experience
Heretic + Hexen on Nintendo Switch adds deathmatch and split-screen co-op modes, allowing you to battle with or against friends with ease. The soundtrack, remixed by Andrew Hulshult, can be toggled on and off at will, offering a choice between an original feel and a new dramatic atmosphere. In-game mod support opens up endless creative possibilities, while accessibility options and quality of life improvements make it accessible to all players. This is a chance to relive memories while exploring stories, maps, and modes never before seen in the history of these two classics.
