Sakura Nova is a fantasy visual novel centered on three young women training to become accomplished knights. The story follows Mikage, an ambitious fighter who enters a prestigious academy and soon meets two very different classmates, Kaguya and Arisa. Although their personalities frequently clash, circumstances bring the trio together and force them to learn how to cooperate. Their journey combines fantasy adventure, comedy, friendship, and romance as their relationship gradually develops. With colorful anime artwork and character-focused storytelling, Sakura Nova offers Nintendo Switch players a lighthearted visual novel set within a world of aspiring knights.

Begin your training as a young knight
Mikage enters the academy determined to become a respected knight, following a path connected to her family’s history. Her ambitions quickly introduce her to a demanding environment where students must demonstrate both individual ability and teamwork. Training provides the foundation for the story, but the experience focuses less on complicated combat mechanics and more on the relationships that develop between the characters. Mikage must learn how to work alongside people whose personalities and backgrounds differ greatly from her own. This creates plenty of humorous situations while also giving the characters opportunities to understand each other. The academy setting provides a natural structure for their development as they face new responsibilities and gradually move closer to achieving their goals as knights.
Meet Kaguya and Arisa
Kaguya and Arisa become the two most important people in Mikage’s academy life. Kaguya comes from a noble background and carries herself with confidence, while Arisa has her own distinctive personality and approach to training. Their differences initially make cooperation difficult, especially when pride and competing expectations enter the conversation. Mikage becomes the connecting point between them, creating a trio that must overcome its disagreements to succeed. Much of Sakura Nova’s appeal comes from watching these personalities interact during training and everyday situations. Arguments can quickly turn into comedy, while quieter conversations reveal more personal sides of each character. Over time, their initially awkward partnership develops into a much closer relationship that extends beyond their shared ambition to become knights.
Follow a story of friendship and romance
While the fantasy academy provides the setting, Sakura Nova places its strongest emphasis on character relationships. Spending time together allows Mikage, Kaguya, and Arisa to gradually move beyond their early disagreements and develop stronger emotional connections. The visual novel format gives conversations plenty of space, allowing humorous scenes and romantic moments to become central parts of the experience. Players follow the trio through situations that reveal their insecurities, motivations, and changing feelings toward one another. Rather than presenting romance separately from the main story, the developing relationship grows alongside their progress as a team. This creates a light and character-driven narrative where becoming better knights and understanding one another are closely connected parts of the same journey.
