The King of Fighters 2002: Challenge to Ultimate Battle is a special installment in the popular fighting game series The King of Fighters (KOF), released in 2002 on the Neo Geo system. This is the ninth version in the series and the second part developed by Eolith after taking over the publishing rights from SNK.
Classic, high-speed gameplay
The game returns to the traditional 3v3 mechanism, eliminating the Striker system that appeared in previous versions. Thanks to that, the match pace becomes faster and more direct, bringing a technical experience to veteran gamers.
Players will have to master basic attacks, special skills and super moves, all combined into smooth combo chains. It is this combination that made the brand of KOF 2002, making it one of the most popular fighting games at that time.
A diverse and quality cast of characters
With 39 playable characters, the game not only brings familiar names from previous KOF installments, but also introduces new faces with great potential. Players can freely choose their favorite team, from legendary fighters like Kyo, Iori, Terry to other special fighters from many KOF universes.
