Zero Sum Heart

Zero-Sum Heart is a unique narrative experience that takes you into a magical school world filled with surrealism and tragedy. Over the course of two hours, players will live with an 18-year-old character who is faced with an irreversible choice: trade his heart for everything he desires. But when love knocks on his door, is that sacrifice still meaningful?

A haunting fantasy

The game is set in a boarding school where magic and human emotions blend. The main character – “I” – has agreed to perform a mystical ritual in exchange for a witch’s heart. In return, there is power, admiration, and a brilliant love. But as a price to pay, everything that seemed perfect gradually becomes distorted. Love cannot be felt, glory has no soul, and the voices in the heart are now forever silent.

Visual and Audio Appeal

Zero-Sum Heart impresses with its psychedelic flat-panel illustrations, creating an atmosphere that is both surreal and haunting. The music and sound design are woven into a dreamy, sometimes cold and creepy backdrop, making the experience as vivid as the characters themselves. You don’t just read a story, you really immerse yourself in it – feeling it with all your senses, except… your heart.

Multiple endings, one big question

The game offers multiple branches and endings, reflecting each choice the player makes. Love, fame, or human nature – each element is viewed through the lens of loss and desire. There is no absolute right choice, only lingering questions that remain in the end: What makes a person whole, and capable of love?

Zero-Sum Heart is a visual novel that brings many conflicting emotions, combining romance, horror and school magic. If you are looking for a short but profound story, to reflect on the price of love and the sacrifice of self, this is the journey you should embark on. A journey without heart – but full of emotions.
